An application can be submitted to the Information Officer of the District Secretariat under RTI 01 to obtain information related to the District Secretariat under the above Act. Submission of this application is not mandatory.

Request for information

Request for information

1. To obtain information, make a written RTI-01 application or letter to the Information Officer and receive a letter of receipt.
2. You will be informed as soon as possible, in any case within 14 days, whether information relevant to your request can be provided.
3. If the Commission decides to provide you with the requested information, you will be notified if a fee is payable. If you have to pay to get the information, you will be provided with the information within 14 days on payment of fees accordingly or free of charge if you do not have to pay the fees.
4. If it is difficult to provide the information within 14 days after payment of fees, the information officer will provide you with the information you requested within an additional period of not more than 21 days stating the reasons for extending the said period.
5. In cases where requests for information concern a citizen’s life and personal liberty, the response to the request shall be made within 48 hours of receipt of the request.
6. In relation to a request for information,

• Refusal to accept any request for information;
• Refusal to grant access to any information on account of information exempted from disclosure under section 5 of the Act,
• Failure to comply with time limits specified by the Act,
• Providing incomplete, misleading, or false information,
• Overcharging,
• Refusal by the Information Officer to provide information in the format requested,
• The citizen requesting the information has reasonable grounds to believe that the information has been tampered with, destroyed, or misplaced to prevent the citizen from accessing the information.
