Key Responsibilities of the Section

  1. Conduct of District Agriculture Committees - The district's agriculture related officers and representatives of farmers' organizations gather at the same place to discuss agricultural problems and find solutions and to discuss the progress of agricultural institutions under the leadership of the district secretary.
  2. Coordinate the main agricultural sectors of the district (related to the production of vegetable supplementary food crops) and prepare the crop cultivation plan for the upcoming "Maha" and "Yala" seasons for the district and send it to the Ministry of Agriculture.
  3. Collecting data related to the district agriculture sector.
  4. Investigating the problems related to the cultivated land in the district and connecting the relevant institutions to solve the problems.
  5. Prepare project proposals to solve the existing agricultural problems in the district and implement the relevant projects by obtaining allocations from the Ministries of Agriculture and other institutions.
  6. Participating in the season meeting held in connection with the district irrigation schemes and when necessary informing the Ministry of Agriculture and related institutions and taking action to solve the problems.
  7. Providing necessary support to the district secretary to increase the prices of other food crops including rice as per the requirement.

Key Responsibilities of the Section

  1. Presenting of reports by doing investigation under supervision of top management on the request made by the heads of the institutions regarding complaints of all the divisional secretariats in Matale District.
  2. Conducting of basic investigations as per the instructions given by District Secretary regarding petitions and Complaints receiving from various parties to the Divisional Secretariats that forwarding by Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government.
  3. Reporting after investigations under supervision of top rank management regarding complaints, accusations and Petitions of Public regarding wasting, briberies, and corruptions related to the Divisional Secretariats of Matale District.
  4. Conducting of inquiries under supervision of District secretary/ Divisional Secretary regarding complaints receive by Public, other parties and Trade Unions regarding Grama Niladharies and GN Offices as well as all the Officers   that under purview of Divisional secretariats in Matale District and Presenting of reports included the recommendations regarding it.
  5. Drafting of Charge Sheets regarding facts reveal in the basic investigations, Preparation of letters for formal disciplinary inquiries, keeping the said documents safely and Collecting of necessary information with protected way.
  6. Involving regarding public complaints relevant to all Divisional Secretariats in Matale District.
  7. Conducting of Field inquiries regarding requesting of permits for falling jack trees relevant to the all Divisional Secretariat in Matale District and Forwarding Observation.
  8. Relevant duties for Office Inspection of Grama Niladhari and Other Officers under the instruction of authorized officer of District Secretariat.

Key Responsibilities of the Section

  1.  Releasing of press releases towards Electronic and Printing Medias (Related with the development activities and other common motions of the  District.)
  2.  Media Coverage events (Media coverage for the occasions being done regarding the development and common endeavors of the matale district.)
  3.  Media Coordination Activities (As per the requests made by District Secretariats and Other government institutions)
  4. Observation of daily newspapers
  5.  Photographing of various development projects and occasions.
  6.  Updating of Sinhala version of the official web site of the district secretariat.
  7.  Forwarding of news for the News.lk which is the official news web site of the government
  8.  Awareness Programmes for Journalists, School Children and Community

Measurements Standard Unit

Mission

"To be the Apex Institute for Science of Measurement, being responsible for the National Measurement System and to ensure justice and equity in regulatory activities and transactions based on Measurements"

The Department was estabilished under the provisions of the Measurement Units Standards And Services Act No.35 of 1995. The Department aims to establish, maintain, and disseminate National Standards of Measurement in Sri Lanka and the traceability of Measurements. It also provides the Legal Metrological framework to trade, Industry, science, health, security and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities of the Section

  1. Testing and stamping of weighers and measuring accessories of traders annually by an inspector.
    1. Organizing testing and stamping centers to test and stamp measuring accessories of traders in every divisional secretariat with the guidance of district secretary.
    2. Fuel issuing accessories of filling stations testing and stamping annually.
    3. Accessories of emission testing of emission testing centers testing and stamping.
    4. Testing and stamping of measuring accessories of factories testing and stamping annually.
  2. Raiding and taking legal actions against traders who violate legal allocations of the 1995 No.35 Measuring units and Standard services Act. (clauses 37, 42, 38, 46, 51, (6).
  3. Taking legal actions against traders violate above legal allocations.
